The cottage is big enough for all, the big open area is great for playing games and making memories that will last a lifetime. Our stay here at the Ponderosa was amazing! We had a family reunion here and everything was perfect.
We made memories at this cottage that we will never forget, there was so much to do here and would hike, tan, fish, kayak, cook and just sit around the living room to enjoy each other company. We haven’t seen our family for a long time so this was amazing not to mention the cottage was also very clean and we stayed here for two weeks and there was so much to do. Together we explored Lancaster, Alexandria, Ottawa and even Montreal. All of the above are within two hours away from the cottage.

The property is so beautiful and spacious we hardly feel the need to explore elsewhere and although we did take in a couple days of site, Mc Maze was cute family pumpkin patch and Long Sault parkway is a beautiful drive with gorgeous hiking and biking trails.

We have enjoyed every minute of the ranch from the very first second that we arrived, very peaceful and relaxing place. We stayed a week and our wedding was the Saturday. Our wedding couldn’t have been more perfect. From ceremony views, pictures, everything was beautiful absolutely amazing, a lot of compliments that night and the location perfect spot for a wedding. Three generations of our family have enjoyed every minute of our week at the Ponderosa Ranch. Our two little ones age 6 and 2, played soccer, fished, canoed, ran and explored every corner of the property. It’s a perfect place for tow very active boys. In the area we enjoyed Mc Maze Prehistoric world Upper Canada village and several fun hikes. Since were from NJ and Texas being able to wear a light jacket in August has been a real treat. Thanks for the perfect and beautiful peaceful place for our family to spend time together.

Had a great time relaxing on the deck and cooling off in the water. Was a great place for myself and 4 others to spend the week along with our dog. The owners were very responsive and came over if we needed anything. The property is gorgeous and there are trails you can walk and a conservation area nearby. Would recommend for anyone wanting a quiet summer getaway.

This hidden gem is an incredible private get away. The cottage is very clean and well maintained and the architecture is stunning. We had a tranquil experience. From swimming to fishing to boating there are tons of things to do. There is also a beautiful beach just a short five minute drive away if you prefer not to swim off the dock. We were very fortunate to find this hidden treasure called the Ponderosa Ranch - a beautifully maintained and furnished log home situated on the Raisin river just a minute from Lake St. Francis. The Ranch was perfect for our group of 10 guys with plenty of space to move around and never feeling we were on top of each other. Our late September booking brought cool weather at night but the wood burning stove was perfect to take the chill out of the air. The large dining table was able to accommodate all 10 of us very comfortably with room for many wine bottles. The huge porch provides a great gathering spot for many activities: story telling; watching the activities on the river; and even sleeping. Pierre and Renée have invested plenty of their labour and energy in making the ranch and the 35 acres of surrounding land such a beautiful property. However, it's their personal touch that makes the place so welcoming - the owners went out of their way to ensuring that we had a great experience. As a big group who likes to play music, sing and at times be somewhat loud, the Ponderosa was perfect for us as we did not disturb anyone

This was really more than we expected. The house is a beautiful, clean, chalet that has everything imaginable. From everything you would need in the house as well as games for the children. Wonderful!!! The road winding to the chalet gave us a glimpse of what awaited us. As we pulled up in our van, we were met by Pierre, the owner of the beautiful Ponderosa Ranch.The peacefulness and privacy were so refreshing. We could see the Raisin river and the canoe resting beside it. Everything about my first vision said,"Welcome!"
There was absolutely nothing that was needed. Everything was at our fingertips in every drawer and cupboard down to the numerous games,firewood, children's' play area and barbecue.
The sunrise the next morning over the Raisin river urged us to have coffee on the deck. Later in the day, Pierre and Renee came by wanting to know if we needed anything.
As our stay progressed,we learned about the history of the region from Pierre who was very knowledgeable about events and customs of Eastern Ontario. Renee was so pleasant and even took the trouble of teaching our Grandson a few words in French. Pierre also was helpful in showing him where the frogs lived. He learned much---- seeing tadpoles and even a mink sitting on a rock while canoeing down the Raisin river where he learned to also row with our son-in-law.
I obviously was so pleased with our first two weeks of August spent at the ranch.
With its close proximity to Montreal, Ottawa and the United States,I highly recommend The Ponderosa Ranch as a wonderful vacation getaway.
As our two week stay came to a close, we were already thinking of returning.

We had a wonderful time at the Ponderosa Ranch in the beginning of June 2011. The house (so much more than a cottage ) was magnificent, clean and fully equipped. Pierre and Renee did their utmost to ensure a comfortable stay for us and the children. A new jungle gym,games,firewood,life jackets and enen mosquito repellent, everything was at our disposal. What a great place! We plan to return!

They say a picture says a thousand words! after driving up to this beautiful log Cottage at Ponderosa Ranch, it was more like five thousand!
Awesome!! was the first word out my 4 and 8 year olds mouth. We traveled from Fort McMurray Alberta in hope to find an amazing family retreat and WOW! sis we find it. This beautiful quality built log Cottage is all tucked into a a magnificent manicured landscape abutting the Raisin River where my little guys caught bass after bass off the dock. Each morning our routine consisted of a 5 minute drive to Tim Hortons for coffee and chocolate milk and Tim bitts, followed by a 5 minute drive to Heritage Golf Course where my 2 little guys and myself played 9 holes. The3 location of the Ranch is first class, minutes from anything you could need. We've spent time in many Cottages and Ponderosa has been far superior in every detail. Every detail has been accounted for. Upon entering the Cottage the cleanliness is very evident. Each nook and cranny is sparkling clean. All amenities you could possibly require is at your finger tips here.
If you are looking for a vacation spot or a relaxing retreat with or without children, Ponderosa Ranch is unquestionably a 5 star choice!

Recently spent a week at Ponderosa Ranch Resort with four friends fishing Lake St.Francis. Log home was absolutely stunning, and furnished and supplied with the best of everything. Just like being at home in North Carolina!!!!!! Shopping, marinas and restaurants were close by (5-minutes). Owner was always checking with us to make sure that we had everything that we needed, even getting us advice on where to fish. For us, the new boat dock and sheltered access for our boats to Lake St. Francis was a huge plus for this property. Rented many places in Canada over the past thirty years, and this was the best of the best plus the bass fishing was unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a wedding rehearsal dinner there and the owner was extremely helpful in setting up tables, dinnerware, coffee/tea urns for us. He also came by to take the extras away and tidy things up for us. This is a beautiful home in a wonderful setting. It is well stocked and great for a getaway or an event. We enjoyed out 6 night stay.
